Anyone play COD5 beta?

So has anyone seen the COD5 game play trailer? I'm not sure what to think to be honest. I mean of course I'm looking forward to seeing and playing the new Call Of Duty, but because COD4 was such a massive success I feel like it's going to be hard for them to 1up it. Not only that, but a different developer is going to be developing COD5, or has developed I guess would be the correct term since it's coming out in less than a month. I have a feeling that the gameplay everyone has gotten used to in COD4 is going to be a lot different in COD5, and not different in a better way either.

One thing that I am happy about is the fact they are doing away with the heli in COD5. Bad thing is that it's going to be replaced with "attack dogs". The idea of a pack of dogs attacking me in sorta cool until you read the fine print which says even if you kill the dogs, they will just respawn and come for you again which is total BS IMO. Here's the details:

Unleash the Dogs (7 Kills):

Kill seven enemies without dying and you enable the ability to call in attack dogs, which will sniff out any enemies on the map. Unlike COD4, attack dogs will find you regardless of where you hide, making it exceedingly difficult to avoid them. Furthermore, killing the attack dogs will only save you temporarily as the hounds will respawn if killed until their time/kill limit has expired.

If that's not a horrifically noob feature, then I don't know what is. They managed to take one of the biggest crap features of COD4(the heli) and make it even worse with re-spawning attack dogs. I guess I'll save judgment until I see it but I have a feeling it's going to be pretty lame.

They also changed the air strike around a bit, doesn't sound too bad:

Artillery Strike (5 Kills):

Kill five enemies without dying and you are given the ability to call in an artillery strike. This is very similar to the Airstrike command in COD4, however, instead of a line of bombs going off, the area in which you select for the drop is completely obliterated in a long series of cannon fire.

It would have been kind of cool if they let you fly the plane. Sort of how you can fly the plane in COD4 single player. But we will see, the new air strikes don't sound like they will be too bad. The 3kill perk will remain the same. A reconnaissance plane will fly over and light up all the enemies on the map except the ones using an anti-recon perk.

Here is a list of new features that I've found so far with COD5:

1.       65 levels instead of 55, still 10 prestiges

2.       "Second Chance Perk" basically you're on last stand, and if someone else is using the Second Chance perk, they can come revive you (by giving morphine)

3.       Get extra assist points if someone steals a last stand from you.

4.       One of the special grenades is a "gas" grenade that releases poisonous gas that REALLY messes you up. You can't see/move and it has a lot of coughing sound effects.

5.       Frags lowered from x3 to x2 (thank god)

6.       AutoAim? Wow, why would they add such a thing?

GAMETYPES
CTF - CTF is back. A big hit in the original CoD and in CoD2, it was absent in CoD4 and was highly missed by gamers. Treyarch must have noticed that CTF was one of the first gametypes modded into CoD4 by the community. While CTF never did catch on, even on proven CTF maps, hopefully it will fare better in CoD:WW.

War - A new gametype that will allow you to drive vehicles in Multiplayer. (I pressume this means its the only game mode with vehicles woop!)

REWARDING SUCCESS
Recon Plane - three of the enemy without dying and you get to deploy the recon plane. It temporarily shows you the location of your foe on a RADAR box in the top left of your screen. This of course matches the UAV in CoD4.

Artillery Strike - Frag five enemy combatants and you get to select a strike zone on the map. A few seconds later...whammo! The artillery shells hit the target. This of course replaces CoD4's airstrike.

Dogs of War - In a bizarre twist, if you frag seven enemy soldiers, you get to release Attack Dogs onto your foe. The dogs chase down and kill the enemy. They will also see out any camped units hiding in the weeds. DoW replaces the CoD4 Helicopter.

ATTACHMENTS
Scopes - Rifles and SMG's will get aperture sights, telescopic sights and sniper scopes

Bipod - A constant in just about any CoD mod ever developed, a Bipod will be available for snipers and MG'ers. You will be able to use it in the prone position to reduce recoil. This attachment makes us us ask the obvious question: is everything bi- these days?

Enlarging your Magazine - You can add a dual magazine or drum magazine onto your weapon for even more praying and spraying ability.

Suppressors - Suppressors hide muzzle flash and somewhat quiet your weapon - but this will undoubtedly come at a cost as the hit power will be marginally less.

Double-barreled Shotty - A double-barreled shotgun will be available. You can "saw-off" the barrel on these to make the gun an overpowered short distance killing machine. Enormous spread for a short distance. Let the "super-noober-toober" chants begin.

Bayonets - The bayonet allows you to extend the reach of the combat knife. This could be quite interesting as knife vs. bayonet only fights would be quite the spectacle.

Flak-Jacket - The new Juggernaut. A grenade-resistant flak jacket will allow you to survive more punishment - undoubtedly at a cost to movement.

THE PERKS
In CoD4, the more you played, the more stuff you unlocked in the game. These were called perks: better gun, attachment and ability unlocks. As you can imagine, "Perks" became an instant fave online in CoD4. There are fifteen new perks in CoD: WW...many are simply renamed CoD4 perks, but some are brand new and specific to WW.

M2 Flamethrower - High level unlock, the flamethrower has been featured as one of the must-see weapons in CoD: WW.

Pyromaniac - Extends the damage range of your grenades - the WWII version of Sonic Boom

Satchel Charge - WWII's C4. You can damage infantry and of course tanks if you place them on the treads.

Bouncing Betty - CoD4's Back-to-the-Future Claymore. These seriously dangerous devices were mines that would spring upward if triggered, spraying fragments at a height that would not just mame ...but kill.

Bazooka - Unhappy with your tiny weapon are you? Grab the bazooka. Size does matter and you can destroy tanks with it! Much more destructive than those silly CoD4 RPG's.

Flak Jacket - The new Juggernaut. Get added health benefits.

Shades - To counter the flare (the CoD: WW flash-bang, which lasts quite a lot longer), you can use "shades" which reduce the blinding effect.

Gas Mask - Reduces the effects of the Tabun nerve gas weapon.

Second Chance - Last-Stand with a twist. As in CoD4's Perk, when you get fragged, you drop to the ground for a few more seconds with only a pistol as a weapon. You lie there waiting for death...however, in CoD: WW, as reported here a few days ago, the new "Second Chance" perk lets you get resuscitated by a teammate who also has Second Chance. This is a nice idea, but I suspect that it will get both you and your teammate killed more frequently.

Fire Proof - A counter to the Molotov cocktail and the Flamethrower.

Dexterity - The new Sleight-of-Hand. This will allow faster reloads and allows you to throw Molotov's and set Bouncing Betty's faster.

Greased Bearings - Allows you to traverse faster with the main gun, and thus get to targets quicker, when you are fighting in a tank.

Ordinance Training - Boost the firing rate of the tank's main gun.

Water Cooler - The tank's machine gun can overheat unless you have this perk.

Lead Foot - Boost the speed of your tank.

Of course you have hack sites already preparing to get different hacks released which will add a dark side to COD5. I think PunkBuster is dealing with the Call of Duty 4 hacks pretty well. Course you have the people with private hacks that are undetectable by PunkBuster, I doubt they will ever be caught. I don't really understand what's the point in playing with hacks? I mean, anything you do in game, any kills you get are void because you had to cheat to do it, you weren't good enough to do it like the rest of us. But meh, whatever I guess. I hear there is a new anti-cheating program coming soon that all COD4 players playing in tourneys will have to run alongside PunkBuster. I forgot what the name of it is, anyone know what I'm talking about?

Well I guess that's about all. I pre-ordered my COD5 game a couple hours ago and now I'm just patiently waiting on the beta key to arrive in my email so I can take a shot at this thing for myself and see what it's like. :)

Harry Potter Fans are disappointed with the Harry Potter 6 release date

Harry Potter Fans are disappointed with the Harry Potter 6 release date

Harry Potter Fans are disappointed with the Harry Potter 6 release date.

Harry Potter 6; the Half-blood prince is much anticipated by all the Harry Potter fans around the world. Everybody were expecting it to be on their movie screen by November 21st, but suddenly Warner Brothers had announced that they will push the date to July 17th of 2009 and not on November 21st of 2008! This angered lots of the Harry Potter fans who just can't get enough of Harry Potter.

Because of these fans' outrage, one person started an online petition asking fellow Harry Potter fans to sign it if they are disappointed with the decision to move the release date of the movie. In just a week after the petition had been created, it gathered over 40,000 signatures already! Just imagine, that's over 5,000 signatures in a day! The Harry Potter fever is just getting hotter and hotter. Now, fans are not excited but they are outraged by the decision of Warner Brothers. With this much signatures under one petition, just imagine how many online petitions about this had been created after the news broke out about the postponement of the movie's release. With all these petitions getting the same bombardment of signatories, for sure Warner Brothers would be worried. Why not? They keep on making Harry Potter movies because of its fans that just can't stop watching it. What would happen to them if their fans would decide to boycott? They'd lose lots of money and that's not good for business. What are their reasons for postponing the movie?

After watching Harry Potter 5, many Harry Potter fans already started their long wait for the next Harry Potter sequel. For them it may have already seemed forever and with just 3 more months left and they could already watch their anticipated movie, suddenly they realize they don't need to wait 3 more months but another 11 months! Now, wouldn't that make your blood boil? So just imagine the outrage. Thankfully, online petitions are there to make these fanatics have a chance to share their opinions in the hopes that those people in Warner Brothers may change their minds. It's a disaster! For these Harry Potter fans, this news seems like they've been hit by a killer tornado.

Warner Brothers said they moved the date to ensure they'd get the most audience as possible but they never thought that with their move, they made their Harry Potter fans angry. Is this the best way to market their movie? They should have kept their movie fans happy and excited about the movie and not angry and want to boycott. They may just end up realizing that they made the wrong move. Let's face it. It doesn't matter what time of the year they would release the Harry Potter movie, it would still get the same number of audience. Harry Potter fans would continue to watch the movie with so much excitement even when it's released on the coldest day of the year!

So, if you are a Harry Potter's fan and you are also outraged with the decision by Warner Brothers, you may want to check out the online petition about it and sign there too! Heck, even if you were to start a petition of you own, that would help. Everything helps at this point!

Any Stargate Atlantis fans?

Stargate Atlantis needs our help! Sign the petition!

I’m such a fan of Stargate Atlantis. I watch it religiously and I know all the scenes! It’s in my system and I just can’t imagine life without this show on TV. Have you heard? MGM has already announced that they are going to end the show after their 5th season. Why? It’s probably the best sci-fi show on TV to date! Why cancel a show that has a very solid audience that watches it religiously the same as I do?

Obviously, the producers know how popular Stargate Atlantis is and thought that it’s just too good for TV and should be made into a movie. Great! Who wouldn’t want to watch a movie version of their favorite sci-fi TV series? But why would they cancel the show just to pave the way for its movie series? There’s too much politics here and the purpose is not to benefit the fans but so they could fatten their pockets even more! Come on now! Why hurt us after we supported your show? It is just not fair!

I am so happy to see many fans who decided to start a petition. It’s a great idea! It’s time for us to save our favorite TV show. Let us save Atlantis! It’s our time to be a part of the show’s story. Now is our time to save Atlantis, Of course it’s not like we have to pack our bags and train to be one of these futuristic scientists but it’s time for us to unite and save the show! These petitions are calling for all the Stargate Atlantis fans and supporters to sign their names so our voices would be heard by SGA’s executive producers. It’s not fair! We have to show them that what they plan on doing is really not fair!

Friday nights would no longer be fun. I usually prepare myself after dinner and find a comfortable place in front of the TV in anticipation of this show. I look forward to Friday nights all the time! Without SGA, what’s there to look forward to? It’s sad… tragic! Looking forward for the next movie is like waiting for your birthday each year!

I’m just one of the many disappointed fans of SGA. These executive producers should reconsider. Should we boycott and show them our disappointment? But then we’d be missing more of their awesome shows. We should all support the circulating of the online petition asking for these executive producers to change their mind and start thinking about the 6th season. The 5th season of Stargate Atlantis is a lot better than the previous seasons and we are expecting for the 6th. It can’t just end here. It’s just too good to end.

SciFi will have nothing to boast about after their station won’t have Stargate Atlantis for their audience. Come on now, what’s left to watch in that channel after SGA?

Would it have been different if they have used a different channel to show Stargate Atlantis? SG1 was a great show and it was canceled prematurely as well. I was a die-hard fanatic of SG1 also and I was so disappointed when they announced that my favorite show on TV was about to say it’s goodbye. I was sad but I thank God for Stargate Atlantis. At least, SG1 had 10 seasons so I was able to enjoy watching it for years! Stargate Atlantis only had 5 episodes and it’s even better than SG1 but why only 5 episodes? Can the executive producers answer this question for us?

Why the sudden death for our favorite sci-fi shows? They can cancel all those other boring shows on Sci-Fi if they want to, but why cancel the most popular one? It doesn’t really make sense to me. I will miss the characters whom I already grown to love. What will happen to them after this? Will they be on the movie version of Stargate Atlantis? I hope so. But, still that’s just not right. They deserve to be on Air every Friday! I am not saying that they don’t deserve to be on the silver screen. Heck, I’d die to watch the movie version of SGA but I just can’t stand the fact that they are canceling the show.

I’m sure many would agree that there’s not much on TV right now that is worth watching. I don’t watch TV on most days except for the news and some sports shows but that’s just about it. No new shows interest me that much anymore except for Stargate Atlantis. I’m a sucker for sci-fi shows but I am very choosy as well. Sci-fi shows can be really boring when the storyline is boring. SGA has an awesome storyline that caught me right from the first time I watched it. I even have DVDs of the shows so I could watch them over and over again. I’m a die hard fan and I am here, asking all of you die hard SGA fans out there, to support the online petition. Please, please, let’s support our favorite show.

I’m done voicing out my opinion but I’m still not through with my disappointment and I will continue to fight for my favorite show. Its one great show that we just have to keep on air. Whether or not we’d be successful, at least we can say that we did our part in keeping it on air. If the executive producers won’t listen to our plight, I bet it’s time for us to start looking for other shows that may interest us and just wait for the movie series then. It’s unfair and disappointing but I will never say never. I will sign as many online petitions and start a petition asking my fellow fans to support our loved team of scientists led by Major John Sheppard.

You gave us a great show SCI-Fi, please don’t just take it away from us. It will break many hearts and will disappoint even more. Hope you’ll make the right decision and keep the show on air!

How To Write A Petition

How To Write A Petition

Launching a Successful Petitioning Campaign:

There are a number of differing reasons why an individual may feel the need to launch a petitioning campaign, but more often than not, they are unable to identify a starting point in the process. Given the right resources and knowledge, a petition can be an excellent tool for change. The successfulness of such a campaign is dependant on three key steps, those being the planning and development stage, implementation stage, and the execution stage. In this article we will focus on each of these three steps to develop a plan which, if followed, will help to ensure the success of your campaigning.

As is essential with most formal tasks these days, petitioning requires a certain amount of planning to account for all of the aspects of a petition that need to be brought together to complete a successful operation. In the diagram below, we show you the three components of the planning stage – the three things you will need to make a decision on before proceeding to step two, as well as the possible choices for each.

What we see here are three crucial factors that will affect the effectiveness of the petition. Your planning and preparation should focus on each of these. If you have more than one organiser or volunteer working on this campaign, be sure to form a solid plan for each of these people to refer to, should any confusions or questions arise in due course. By thinking ahead, you wont be left having to reflect on hindsight should something go wrong unexpectedly. Generally, the same planning stages you would employ when creating a corporate report or publication, formal presentation, or official document, can also be applied to a petition. That’s because a petition technically is an official document.

Moving on to the second of our three necessary considerations any petition should be given. The implementation stage is all about getting the results of your planning into some type of physical form. Assuming that you have decided on a manual type of petition, you will need to create forms for respondents to fill in – allowing them to acknowledge their support of your cause. Below, we have included a basic, potential layout for these forms, utilising the functionality of Microsoft Excel.

As you can see, taking a simplistic approach to this task can be just as effective as an advanced, time-consuming approach. One of the most important things to remember when you create these forms is to include ALL the necessary data fields. A recent petition in New Zealand failed due to an insufficient selection of data being collected from the 200,000 respondents. If only the organisers had spent a bit more time contemplating the specific details they were going to collect, the petition would most likely have been successful.

Having drafted, published, and printed the completed forms; they should be distributed to organizers and volunteers in order to move on to the final stage in the petitioning process. As well as this, signature gatherers should be briefed on the pending campaign, and the finer details, which have now been decided. When this is complete, and all the relevant parties know their roles and their importance to the overall campaign, we are ready to move on to the execution stage.

All of your preparation work has now been done. You have planned the most important features of your petition; implemented and converted those plans into physical form, and additionally have the appropriate materials ready to collect the signatures you need. It is now time for your volunteers to head out on to the real world and collect as many signatures as possible. There are many tips which can be useful for manually collecting signatures. To investigate these, petitions is an excellent resource. The overall idea is to collect as many signatures as possible, effectively creating more and more support for your cause. At the end of the day, the more respondents you have, the more chance you have of a successful outcome.

When it comes time to halt the signatures and support collecting process, the most difficult aspects of the petition are well and truly completed. There are, however, a few final administration tasks still to be completed.

As you see in this diagram, we are firstly expressing our appreciation to those who have assisted us in mustering public support on our issue. It is only right that these people be formally acknowledged for their efforts. Additionally, the petition should now be copied and sent to the target which was decided in the planning stage. On the successful delivery of the final report – your participation as the organizer may or may not be concluded. Given that the target party’s response is unknown, further negotiating may be necessary to complete the entire process with a reasonable, reciprocal outcome. Because of the inability to predict whether or not this will happen, we will not cover it in this article. Negotiating is in itself an entirely separate  topic, well past the scope of this informational article.

Regardless of the topic or issue on which you decide to petition, the formula above is an excellent template to work off, and can easily be applied to most situations. At times, petition subjects or specific case characteristics will call for a much different approach to be called upon. We will leave the identification of such a scenario you. Petitioning requires mainly skill, and a touch of luck. For that reason, we wish you every success in your endeavors, knowing that you now have the skill set you need to begin a triumphant campaign.

How to start a Petition

How to start a Petition

So, you planned on writing a petition? Here are some steps you need to follow so that your petition would be a success. It’s sad to see your efforts go to waste just because you missed one important step in making your petition a success so you better make sure you’re doing the right things.

First, it is important that you know the purpose of the petition. If you are not absolutely sure about its purpose then you would find it difficult to answer the people’s questions and if they notice that you’re dumbfounded, they may choose not to sign.

Second, you must follow your local government’s regulation. May it be a petition against a government employee, a public servant or a company, it must still follow your government’s jurisdictions and your petition’s cause must be verified either in your locality or on a higher level, depending on your petitions cause.

Third, you must also ask your local government for a guide so you’ll know how much signatures you would need so that you could send the petition to the persons it must reach. If you fail to consider this step, you may end up starting all over again if you have not reached the minimum required signature and you already brought it to the persons who are the reasons why you started the petition.

Fourth, it’s time to write your petition. Make it brief and direct as people won’t want to waste their time just reading through pages of your petition. If you could iterate the petition’s purpose in one paragraph then so be it. Just make sure that it is straightforward and simple. Try to make it say to the people that they need to support the petition because it would benefit the majority. It must be captivating but not dramatic as no one wants that. The summary must be describing the situation and at the same time it must have the suggestion you have in mind as well as the reason why you think this suggestion is necessary.

Fifth, after you write the petition you must take time to reread what you have written and check for errors. You may be surprised but many people get easily irritated with wrong grammars or misspelling.

Sixth, create enough pages for the signatures.

Lastly, it’s time for you to gather as many signatures as you can. Go out and find the right location where most of the people that should sign your petition would be found. Make sure to post the summary or another version of it on your bench and with the use of signboards. You must get their attention so that you’ll get more signatures. This is the most tiring part of the entire process because it’s what makes your petition a success. It’s in the amount of signatures you gather that will determine whether or not your petition is successful.

That’s it! If you gathered enough signatures you must then forward it to the person or persons that needs to open their eyes and start acting in terms of what the majority had agreed on.

Once you’ve done all of this successfully, you must then wait for their decision while keeping your fingers crossed.

Good luck!
